Mid-City Shrine Club Hosts the Hejaz Shriners Preview 2023

The Hejaz Shriners Preview 2023 did not disappoint.  Chief Rabban/Potentate Elect Byron Sheppard laid out a focus and a purpose for 2023 in an inspirational manner.

The event was very well attended with nearly every table full of Nobles, their Ladies and Families as well as more than one prospective Master Mason looking to see what they could learn about the coming year, 2023.

Byron started with a reflection on the fire that destroyed our Temple building and mentioned the team that took part in collecting, archiving and storing our artifacts, pictures and various treasures that they could salvage from the burned building.  Even our Charter which has been with Hejaz since our inception.  All are being stored and will eventually be placed in a proper home.

But he also made the point that Hejaz Temple is not the building that was destroyed, but rather it is the Nobles and their families that are Hejaz Temple.  And wherever these Nobles meet will be Hejaz Temple!

He informed the Nobility present that he will be presenting a realistic budget soon and based on this budget he asked that each club and unit consider planning at least one Hospital, one Temple and one Club/Unit project in the coming year.  He encouraged each Club/Unit in making at least 1/3 of their projects a Temple project.

It was announced that the prize for the annual raffle will be a Kubota RTV520 4WD  Tickets will be $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  The winner will be announced Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Greenville Shrine Club.  The vehicle is from Wilson Tractor, Inc. in Newberry, SC.

Our Hejaz Nobility Gala Stampede 2023 Honoring Illustrious Sir Elect Byron Sheppard and Lady Michelle with all Elected and Appointed 2023 Officers and Ladies will be at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Greenville Golf Resort & Conference Center at 670 Verdae Blvd., Greenville, SC 29607 on Saturday, January 7, 2023.  Tickets will be $75 per person.  A method of paying online will be posted soon or you may also make a reservation by calling Hejaz Temple at 864-277-4386.  A special rate of $119 + Tax will be offered starting October 17th through December 12, 2022.  Dress for the event Western Attire or if you prefer you may also wear Formal Attire.

Hospital Tours Are Back!

 

Shriners Hospitals for Children - Greenville is back open for tours!  This Sunday, October 16th, 2022 the first class of candidates in over two years will be touring the hospital ahead of their induction at the Hejaz Shrine Ceremonial the following weekend.  A long honored tradition of showing the hospital to candidates who have petitioned for admission into the Greatest Philanthropy in the World, Shriners International, is back in place after the Covid-19 pandemic put it on hold to protect our patients and staff.

Two Temples will be touring this Sunday, Jericho Temple of Kingsport, TN and our local Hejaz Temple of Greenville, SC.  Along with the most recent candidates, the newly made Nobles who missed this opportunity during their own Ceremonial have been invited back to make up for this crucial step in their Shrine journey.

The tours are open to everyone including the public.  Nobles are encouraged to bring their families and especially prospective Master Masons who are considering petitioning in the future.  So come out and see what is so special about this monument to service and care that is the result of over 100 years of hard work and fundraising from our Nobles of the Mystic Shrine!
